When in New York City, it's important to remember to pay respects to those whose lives were altered forever by the devastating September 11th terrorist attacks. See the tragedy through the eyes of the city that lived it at the Ground Zero Museum Workshop founded by Marlon Suson, the Official Photographer at Ground Zero for the FDNY. He photographed the "recovery" process six days a week and approximately 17 hours per day from the date of the attacks, September 11, 2001 to the closing ceremony in May 2002. The non-profit museum showcases Suson's images from Ground Zero and donates to various charities associated with the disaster, particularly organizations that participate in Mesothelioma research like the Mesothelioma & Asbestos Awareness Center.
The New Jersey Nets is a professional basketball team that plays in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the NBA. The team has been to the NBA playoffs twice but lost both times, in 2002 to the Los Angeles Lakers and in 2003 to the San Antonio Spurs. The Nets currently play in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey but are anticipating a relocation to Brooklyn, NYC once the new Barclays Center is complete.
Visit the Ellis Island Museum to see if any of your ancestors can be found on the "Wall of Honor," a partial list of the immigrants who entered the country through the island. Other exhibits include: Hearing Room, Peak Immigration Years, the Peopling of America, Restoring a Landmark, Silent Voices, Treasures from Home and Ellis Island Chronicles.
The Majestic Theatre is located on West 44th Street in Manhattan. Since opening in 1927, the theater has become one of Broadway's largest and longest-running theater entertainment venues, boasting 1,607 seats and hosting over 9,000 performances. Famous shows that premiered at the Majestic include Carousel, South Pacific, The Wiz and The Phantom of the Opera. Other productions have included Funny Girl, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Fiddler on the Roof and Grease.
