Grab your skis and get ready to conquer a mountain with a little help from the Timberline Lodge. The lodge is located on the south side of Mount Hood and provides the nation's longest skiing season. Along with skiing, Timberline's recreation area hosts snowboarding, hiking, and climbing. Fun fact: aerial shots of the lodge were used as part of the opening scenes of Stanley Kubrick's film adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining.
Family time just got a lot more scenic. Plan a day of fun at Waterfront Park. This park overlooks the Willamette River and features a walking path throughout. Along with its gorgeous views and blooming cherry blossom trees, the park is home to a number of important landmarks, including the Japanese American Historical Plaza.
Embark on a journey through the Portland Japanese Garden, hailed as “the most authentic Japanese garden outside of Japan.” As you roam through, you'll find that there are five main gardens: Flat Garden, Strolling Pond Garden, The Tea Garden, Natural Garden, and Sand and Stone Garden. Hop on the Portland Brew Bus and guzzle down the best micro-brews that Rose City has to offer. Portland is home to more microbreweries than any other city in the nation, so experiencing this tour is a must for any beer lover. On the tour, you'll visit between three and four breweries, and sample anywhere between 15-25 different beers.
